  What should I know before undergoing liposuction?

  During an initial consultation your plastic surgeon will evaluate your health, assess the condition of the skin, and discuss the options that are best for you.   When can I resume my normal activities?
  Healing after liposuction is usually gradual. You will be encouraged to start walking around as soon as possible to reduce swelling and to prevent any blood clots forming in your legs. You can usually return to work within a few days and start to feel better and better over the next two weeks.
  Strenuous activity should be avoided for about a month when the body continues to heal. Although most of the bruising and swelling usually disappears within the first four to six weeks, the end result of surgery is not fully realized in six months or longer after surgery.
